Kyle Bazemore, Infiniti senior manager of product communications, told IL that the preview will be a virtual debut using a new concept (to the automotive world) called "virtual video mapping." A rendering of the vehicle will be projected onto a clay model, giving people a firsthand, to-scale preview of the car. Enthusiasts won't get to see a live shot of the production-spec vehicle until December.
"The car will look like it is actually there. It will be full-size, and, if you didn't know it was a virtual mapping, you would think it was the real thing from a distance. It gives consumers a preview of the vehicle in advance of its December debut, before any actual vehicles have been built," said Bazemore. "It's a really good-looking car, and we're excited to get it out there."
Consumers will be able to watch a live Webcast of the preview via Infiniti's Web site, so stay tuned for a direct link as the event nears.
The 2011 Infiniti M Series sedan will roll onto dealer lots next spring.
