LOS ANGELES — The base 2013 Infiniti JX FWD, which was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, starts at $41,400, including a $950 shipping charge. Infiniti said the luxury crossover goes on sale in the spring.
The new JX luxury crossover undercuts two of its main competitors, the 2012 Acura MDX and the 2012 Audi Q7. The MDX starts at $43,815, including an $885 shipping charge. The Q7 starts at $47,125, including an $875 destination charge.
The JX's base price can rapidly escalate thanks to five option packages. They include a $4,950 Premium package that includes a navigation system, AroundView monitor and a 13-speaker Bose sound system. A Driver Assistance package adds another $2,200 to the bottom line and adds such items as a back-up collision intervention system, intelligent cruise control, a blind-spot warning system and heated steering wheel. A $1,700 Theater package bundles dual 7-inch color monitors, two wireless headphones and a 120-volt power outlet.
A concept version of the JX was shown in August at Pebble Beach. The concept, which was teased extensively in the run-up to Pebble Beach, is said by Nissan to have been inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept first seen at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.

Let me guess, it features the EXACT same 3.5L V6 found in 90% of Nissan/Infiniti products. Much like GM-product overkill (although we can agree Nissan has far superior quality than GM could ever dream of)

only an idiot will pay 47 grand for something that has a messed up windshield in the back.

"Infinitis nowadays are nothing but an abomination and yes, including the fat and bulky M."
I completely agree on the M. The last generation M was one of the best looking vehicles in it's class. Definitely a step backward. I hope they don't make the same mistake with the next G.

Still looks better than an MKT.

It's good looking to say the least. Infinitis nowadays are nothing but an abomination and yes, including the fat and bulky M.

This looks dated already! 2006 styling!

Looks are solid, but I just don't get the powertrain choice. The CVT doesn't bother me that much. It's the engine. Why no 3.7 VVEL? I think they forgot they were in the premium segment here.

Hey, I agree. I was facetiously suggesting that something might actually cause folks to like the car. I know that most luxury cars have bloated price tags on the lot.

my latest automotive design pet peeve is designs with odd shapes for no particular reason other than to look different. The new JX has this in spades. My other problem with this design is that it looks too much like a minivan, for which SUVs are supposed to be the styling antidote. Imagine the rear door was a slider and tell me this design doesn't scream "minivan".

It only looks like a Highlander. It's actually larger, about Explorer-size, which in its class is actually rather unique. That interesting size plus competitive pricing = I think Infiniti's got a winner on their hands.
