FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Nissan's Infiniti brand will stage the world debuts of two cars, the 2013 Infiniti JX and the 2013 IPL G Convertible, next week at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
These are final production-ready versions of both cars. The 2013 models will reach Infiniti dealers next spring. The JX was unveiled in concept form in August at Pebble Beach, while the IPL G Convertible concept bowed at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.
Infiniti said the seven-passenger JX luxury crossover is inspired by the 2009 Infiniti Essence concept. Design cues include a crescent-cut D-pillar and a striking front grille.
The production JX will be equipped with a V6 engine and a continuously variable transmission. No fuel economy estimates were provided by Infiniti. Pricing has yet to be announced on the new crossover.
An intriguing new feature called Back-up Collision Intervention will be offered on the production JX. The crossover will also get a 14-speaker Bose Studio Surround audio system and Infiniti Personal Assistant, a personal concierge service with 24-hour access to a "live team of professional assistants."
The 2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible is the second model in the Infiniti Performance Line. Expect the new soft top to be priced around $50,000.
The IPL G Convertible is spun off the Infiniti G37 Convertible.
Infiniti said many of the features on the Infiniti IPL G Convertible Concept will be found on the production model. It said the concept has "a level of equipment and performance modification expected to be shared with the production IPL G Convertible."
The concept features a 348-horsepower version of Nissan's 3.7-liter V6 engine, 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, three-piece retractable hardtop and a red leather-appointed interior with a Malbec Black exterior.
Inside Line says: Infiniti continues to expand its product portfolio.

This is a better interpretation of the Essence design than their ugly M sedan

They should've reworked the IPL convertible's front lip, it takes away from some of the elegance a semi-GT car is supposed to have.
IPL G37 -> 335is. It is NOT a competitor to AMG or M.
