What's New for 2012: All Makes

2012 Infiniti EX: With significant changes coming in 2011, there is only one tweak to the EX for 2012: A HomeLink Universal Transceiver becomes standard on the EX35 Journey package. A 297-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 is the only engine option. All-wheel drive is still available.

2012 Infiniti FX: For 2012 the FX gets a new grille and nose. Heated seats become standard on all models. A new Limited Edition FX35 offers Iridium Blue paint, 21-inch wheels, a hard-drive-based navigation system and the brand's Around View (Infiniti's top-down perspective camera system) monitor.

There's also another new exterior color, Graphite Shadow, new 20-inch wheels for the FX35 Deluxe Touring package and adaptive front lighting for the FX50 Sport package. Quilted leather climate-controlled front seats are now part of the FX35 Deluxe Touring package and Premium package (in October 2011).

Otherwise, the FX remains largely unchanged. It's available in three styles: FX50 all-wheel drive with a 5.0-liter V8, FX35 all-wheel drive with a 3.5-liter V6 and FX35 rear-wheel drive using the same engine. The V8 is rated at 390 hp and the V6 is rated at 303 hp. All styles utilize a seven-speed automatic transmission.

2012 Infiniti G25 Sedan: There are no changes for 2012.

2012 Infiniti G37 Convertible: Few changes were made to the G37 Convertible for 2012. There's now a standard spare tire in place of the repair kit and the Limited Edition package has been eliminated.

2012 Infiniti G37 Coupe: There are no changes for 2012.

Still available is the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G Coupe, which offers an uprated version of the company's 3.7-liter V6 producing 348 hp and 276 pound-feet of torque — a bump of 18 hp and 6 lb-ft thanks to a larger exhaust and engine management tweaks. Maximum engine speed is increased from 7,000 to 7,400 rpm. IPL G Coupes also get 19-inch wheels and spring rates that are 20 percent stiffer in the front and 10 percent stiffer in the rear. Damping has been tuned accordingly.

2012 Infiniti G37 Sedan: Changes to the G Sedan for 2012 are purely aesthetic. There's a new Graphite Interior color for the G37 Limited Edition model as well as a new Black Obsidian Exterior color and dark-finish 18-inch wheels. There's a new black grille for the G37 Sport Appearance Edition and Malbec Black is available across the line.

All G37s are powered by Nissan/Infiniti's 3.7-liter V6. A six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic drive the rear wheels except on the G37X, which is all-wheel drive.

2012 Infiniti M: New 18-inch wheels will grace much of the M line for 2012. The Sport and Sport Touring packages will be combined on M56 models into the Sport package. Deluxe Touring package models will offer an available Graphite interior.

The M comes standard with push-button ignition, XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth and a sunroof. Being the top sedan in Infiniti's lineup means it offers a variety of luxury amenities and technologies. Among those are driver-selectable throttle and transmission maps (four modes), Active Noise Control, blind-spot warning and Blind Spot Intervention, which utilizes selective braking to help the driver return to his lane in the event of a drift.

2012 Infiniti M Hybrid: All new for 2012, the M Hybrid utilizes a 3.5-liter V6 and electric motor for a combined 360 hp. Outfitted with all the amenities of the rest of the M line, the M Hybrid can travel up to 62 mph on electric power and is rated at 27 city and 32 highway mpg (29 mpg combined).

2012 Infiniti QX: Minor additions to several packages are the only tweaks to the QX for 2012. The Deluxe Touring package now has two additional speakers (15 vs. 13). Blind Spot Intervention is included on the Technology package. Heated second-row seats and tip-up second-row seats are now included on the Theater package. Two-wheel-drive models with the Deluxe Touring package now get headlight washers.

As always, the QX offers the amenities expected of a luxury SUV: hard-drive-based navigation, Around View, a Bose premium audio system, leather seating and the Theater package that offers dual 7-inch color monitors to second-row passengers.

    >ax engine speed on the G IPL is NOT increased from 7,000rpm to 7,400rpm. All G37's have a redline of 7,400.
