TOKYO — Infiniti may have been slow to the hybrid party, but it is revving up its plans for a zero-emissions vehicle, saying on Tuesday at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show that it plans to introduce an electric vehicle.
It offered few details and no photos of the Infiniti electric vehicle. But Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor president and CEO, said that a concept is being developed for a "stylish, compact, high-performance four-seat luxury Infiniti with zero emissions." No timeline was given for a production rollout of the electric Infiniti or such critical details as pricing information.
Nissan recently announced the addition of the Infiniti M Hybrid, which will go on sale in the U.S. in spring 2011.
