- Nissan will recall more than 134,000 Infiniti G35 models to fix a problem with the front passenger's side airbag.
- The airbag may not deploy in a crash, Nissan said.
- Owners will start receiving notifications of the recall in June.
FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Nissan North America is recalling 134,215 of its 2005-'07 Infiniti G35 coupes and 2005-'06 G35 sedans to fix a problem with the front passenger-side airbag. The airbag may not deploy in a crash, Nissan said.
A wire harness connecting the belt tension sensor and the occupant detection sensor control unit under the front passenger's seat can experience relative movement, which could cause wear and oxidization of the sensors' terminals. This may cause interruption of the signal to the airbag that a person is in the seat.
Plans for notifying affected Infiniti G35 owners and fixing the problem have not yet been officially announced. A Nissan spokesman told the Associated Press that owners will start receiving notifications of the recall in June and can contact Infiniti at (800) 662-6200 with questions before then.

My Xterra got recalled for airbag sensors having possible rusting (Oxidizing as mentioned above in this post) but since I live where there is no snow except once in a blue moon, I don't need it. Perhaps it has something to due with areas that experience snow?

On percentage basis, I wonder how that works out...if a manufacturer has a problem with all of the cars of that run, that's a big deal...as opposed to with a few here and there or bad parts from one supplier.
Toyota, like past GM and Ford recalls, had a lot of hubris in there which is huge factor in whether a recall results in bad publicity...that said, comparing this the Toyota recall just sounds like sour grapes especially since Nissan hasn't been getting publicity (or reports) for, oh, 4 odd years on this one. It sounds like a design that failed in an unexpected way due to wear.

"Is it me or are ALL the automakers recalling cars. Maybe Toyota cars aren't that bad afterall..."
You are correct in saying that all automakers recall cars. Can't avoid it these days with all of the complex electrical components.
The difference is the DEGREE of the problems. An airbag not deploying won't necessarily kill you, especially if you are wearing a seat-belt.
What's different here is that TOYOTA vehicles have apparently KILLED more than 50+ people due to sticky accelerators and sudden acceleration. The recall is not for 200K vehicles, it is for 8 MILLION vehicles worldwide (~10 million vehicles if you include a 'service campaign' to fix oil leaks in ~1.3million Toyotas), so yeah, there is a slight difference here.. Toyota stock going down

Well My neighbor has 09 Murano and he was tboned by sentra . His ( Murano) and her ( Sentra) airbags did not open. My guess Nissan might have an airbag issue.
