    This week we have new spy footage of the upcoming Hyundai Veloster Turbo.   Although it's still being denied by Hyundai officials, it's pretty clear that this Veloster is far from a standard model.   Up front, the grille has been opened up to let more air into the engine bay while the front fascia has more aggressive lines and a deeper air dam.   Extended side sills and more aggressive looking wheels and tires are further hints of this car's high performance intent.   Out back, these Veloster prototypes also had larger, circular tailpipes in place of the more rectangular tips used on the standard Veloster.    And finally, our spies got a quick peek at the engine bay as well. We couldn't see the actual turbocharger, but it clearly has a different setup compared to the normally aspirated model.   All of it points to a new, more powerful Veloster that should bolster its credentials as one of the hottest new coupes around. Expect to see it unveiled in production form early next year with sales beginning in mid-2012.

    Those posting this isn't going to be sporty need to get their heads checked.  The standard Velostar has already been classified as a solid handling car (albeit before any specs or major mags have tested it).  Add to that a rumored 1.6L turbo putting down 210 hp and over 200lbs/tq in a car that ways 2,500 lbs and you have quite a hot hatch.

    If a performance tuning company comes out with an ECU upgrade this thing will be stupid quick for under $23k.

    cant wait to see the production version. This car is unique, not your typical hot hatch.

    @dgmail: uh yea, Genesis R-Spec?

    aviboy97: Their turbo puts out 268hp(?) and if detuned would still be200hp at least. For this size, that would be 'sporty'.

    @xbs- "different" isn't always better.

    This would have been much better + more practical as an Accent 3dr. I mean the back seat in this thing isn't even usable for anyone over 5' 8". I just don't see the point.

    @xeroblu

    "nimble" and "Hyundai" do not go together...not one of their cars are currently numble and the only concrete stats we have on this thing are the 138hp 123tq 4 banger that is just down right weak for a car that's supposed to be "sporty".

    Those of you who think this is ugly need to get checked. A Pontiac Aztec is ugly. Personally I find this care totally unique. There is nothing out there like it.  Sure the CRZ comes close but thats a hybrid and this packs more utility and a third door, in addition to being cheaper. Its got the stats to be a quick and nible ride on paper. Lets see what some real tests provide.
