Cheap, fast and fun, that’s the idea behind the Hyundai Veloster. Originally shown in concept form a few years ago, production prototypes are now undergoing testing in the Arctic Circle. This entry-level coupe is expected to get a 140-horsepoewer four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Hyundai officials have also said they’re gunning for as much as 40mpg on the highway too. As you can see, the production version doesn’t stray too far from the concept. The sloping hatchback area and possibility of a third door for rear seat access should make this a very distinctive coupe. Look for an official unveil early next year with sales beginning by the end of 2011.

The car will have a center mounted exhaust system and a unique passenger side "suicide" third door.

I agree, the CR-Z aspires to be a Hyundai Veloster.

Can'twait to see the first review and test drive. By all indications, this is what the CR-Z should have been--a truly affordable light weight, 140 hp direct injection gasoline engine, fun to drive car. Instead Honda gave us a slow, expensive, hybrid.
