The sportier Talus made its debut in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This more family-oriented model, the Genus, was designed by Hyundai's European design studio in Rüsselsheim, Germany, not far from Opel's headquarters.
With a length of 187 inches and a width of 73.6 inches, the Genus looks like a minivan, and it's powered like one, with a 2.2-liter common-rail diesel. The minivan theme continues inside with a spacious cabin and an interesting rear seat that can be folded into the floor, used as a traditional rear bench, or slid outside the Genus' body to accommodate a Jet Ski or a mountain bike. There's also a panoramic glass moonroof. Where it enters crossover territory is in its height of only 61.6 inches. Although the Genus has four-wheel drive, it should not be confused with a sporty truck or SUV. Where it enters crossover territory is in its height of only 61.6 inches.
What this means to you: Hyundai has clearly set its sights on crossover vehicles as the next niche area to conquer.
