FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — A 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T customized by RIDES and 0-60 magazines and inspired by Ferrari, Mercedes and Porsche is bound for the 2010 SEMA Show in November, Hyundai confirmed for Inside Line on Tuesday.
The exterior modifications use "influences from the Brabus Mercedes CLS Rocket sport coupe," said Hyundai in a statement. Details include 20-inch staggered three-piece wheels, matte pearl white paint and carbon-fiber components including grille, interior trim, side mirrors and rear diffuser. "To complete the design, fabricators will incorporate LED foglights into the bumper from the Porsche 911 Turbo," said Hyundai.
Hyundai says the cabin is derived from the Ferrari F430, "with strategically placed stitched leather throughout and carbon-fiber trim accents."
Performance upgrades include turbo and intake enhancements and a quad-tip dual exhaust.
"The design we've chosen will accentuate the car's lines and style, using influences from exotic supercars," said Ben Harris, executive publisher of RIDES and 0-60 magazines.
The production Sonata turbo will be on sale by the end of the year. Pricing has not been announced.
This will be the only Sonata supplied by Hyundai at the 2010 SEMA Auto Show.
Look for Hyundai to list details about its stable of Equus sedans that are also bound for SEMA in the coming weeks.

Visually speaking, this settup looks sweeter than an M3 and from a mechanical standpoint, I'd choose this car over a Camry any day of the week. But this is hardly a compliment. Kudos for a front wheel drive tho. I just wish Hyndai would grow some chest hair and get serious about entering the sports sedan/coupe arena!
This car needs a manual and needs to be RWD! I'm sure they could give BMW a run for their money if they tried.

It is cool that turbo and intake upgrades are being tested out for this car. I wonder if Hyundai will eventually sell the upgrades to the public.

It would swivel my head more if it had a stick.
