    Hyundai NEOS II

The bold look of the NEOS II is supposed to evoke images of a modern-day steed. Whatever the intent, it's pretty clear Hyundai is about to crank up the volume on its image. Sorry, dude, the girl doesn't come with the car, you gotta get your own. | September 15, 2009

    What Is It?
    Hyundai NEOS II Concept

    What's Special About It?
The NEOS II is a crossover concept from Hyundai that offers a little more extreme styling than we're used to from Hyundai. The name NEOS is a shortened version of "Neologism of Style," whatever that means. Inspired by the idea of the car being a modern-day steed, the NEOS is admittedly an urban vehicle. Even though Hyundai calls the NEOS a crossover-utility vehicle, even the company admit it's only the high seating position of an SUV it was after, not the off-road ability. Even so, the NEOS does have a masculine and aggressive look that seems a bit of a departure from current Hyundai styling conventions.

Inside, the NEOS places priority on the comfort of the front-seat occupants and the large display gauges offer LED illumination. Other features include adaptive headlights, a double-opening rear hatch and a large glass roof.

    Why Should You Care?
Hyundai is on its way up. No longer the maker of cheap back-markers in the competitive sedan and economy car segments, the NEOS II offers a glimpse at what we can expect from Hyundai in the near future. — Brian Moody
