GENEVA — Hyundai held the media preview this week for its new ix-onic concept, which will debut at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show as the forerunner of the next-generation Tucson.
Not that the old name will stick around, at least not in Europe, where its successor will be dubbed ix35.
We showed you a teaser sketch of the vehicle when it was still known by its internal name, HED-6.
The five-passenger concept features a 173-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. The production model, which European reports say will make an appearance this fall at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, is also expected to offer a 184-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel.
The ix35 will be built in Slovakia and will go on sale in Europe in 2010.
