    Just the Facts:
    • Hyundai ix20, a new B-segment MPV, will make its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.
    • The Hyundai i10 city car will also debut in Paris.
    • Hyundai does not plan to bring either car to the U.S. market.

    PARIS — The Hyundai ix20, a new B-segment MPV, will make its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, alongside the Hyundai i10 city car. But Hyundai Motor America tells Inside Line that U.S. consumers are not likely to see the cars here.

    "There are no plans to bring either vehicle to the U.S. market at this time," said Hyundai Motor America spokesman Dan Bedore in response to an e-mailed query from Inside Line on Thursday.

    Hyundai said in a statement that the ix20 is conceived as a "striking departure from the boxy 'minivan' image typically associated with the segment."

    Few details were available about the ix20, which was designed and developed at the Korean automaker's European research and development center in Russelsheim, Germany.

    The Hyundai i10, which also makes its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, is described as an "upgraded" version of the Korean automaker's A-segment city car. "[It] benefits from a comprehensive set of enhancements in terms of design, specification and competitiveness — including a new 1.0-liter engine," Hyundai said in a statement.

    There are, as in any decade, familiar design cues-- such as the current hexagonal grille phase.

    In the past we had decades of "fins", "wraparound windshields (along with wrapover windshields), hardtops, 3 door stationwagons, rearfacing 3d seats in stationwagons, swingout front seats, swingaway steering wheels, whitewall tires (more than one decade), fender skirts, (ditto as in whitewalls), dual headlights, sequential turnsignals, and many more.

    It's very strange how the new Hyundai models have a really, really familiar face...looking like ford models.
    Exemples:
    ix20 = looks like a fiesta

    ix35 = Ford Kuga

    Man, Hyundai Motors not messing around.  These guys came to PLAY!  Geez, it like one freakin new launch after another.  The scary part is that I'm really liking almost ALL of their designs and this rendering included.  Very impressive stuff.

    That's too bad.  Hyundai would have had a customer in me.  I guess I'll get a Countryman or Juke instead now.
