The base Genesis Coupe, equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, is priced in Korea from $19,586. The uplevel edition, fitted with a normally aspirated 3.8-liter DOHC V6, has a sticker price of $28,636.
The Genesis Coupe, which has received a generally favorable response from public and press at international auto shows this year, was shown to Korean media at an event at Jeju Island.
"The Genesis Coupe is our very first thoroughbred, a true halo car with all the hallmarks of a high-performance car," said Hyun-Soon Lee, president of Hyundai's corporate R&D division.
In Korea, as well as the U.S., the rear-wheel-drive Genesis Coupe will offer a choice of two engines. The Theta 2.0 turbo makes 207 horsepower in the Korean version (210 hp in the U.S.), while the Lambda 3.8 delivers 299 hp in Korea (306 hp in the U.S.). Customers can choose between a six-speed manual or six-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
Options include Brembo brakes and an Infinity audio system.
Prices in the U.S. are expected to start from well under $30,000.
