FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — Hyundai continues to flex its muscles well in advance of the 2008 SEMA Show, revealing on Wednesday that it will show off an enhanced version of the 375-horsepower Tau V8 engine developed by its U.S. powertrain engineering team in a customized version of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan by RKSport.

The RKSport Genesis joins a growing roll call of customized Genesis vehicles bound for November's SEMA show, including HKS USA's 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0t and Street Concepts' 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in black camouflage. Earlier, Hyundai threw down the gauntlet to customizers, giving them the opportunity to showcase its halo model at America's premier aftermarket show.

The RKSport Genesis gets a composite hood, unique front and rear lower fascias, side skirts, a composite rear roof spoiler and trunk spoiler. Other touches include TSW alloy wheels, a Baer performance brake package, K&N performance air intake, Eibach lowering springs and a Magnaflow performance exhaust. The RKSport Genesis, which was designed with a minimalist Euro approach, gets a platinum paint job.

Inside Line says: The real question is whether Hyundai plans to market that enhanced version of the Tau V8. It surely will be measuring crowd reaction at SEMA. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
