FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — Hyundai has teamed with Gogogear Racing to create a competition-ready Hyundai Genesis Coupe that will debut at the 2010 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas next month. The Gogogear Genesis will compete in the 2011 U.S. Touring Car Championships, the companies said.
Gogogear is a company that makes custom motorsport-themed graphics and apparel and is branching out to racing.
The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been tweaked to make 330 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, thanks to a new air intake, headers and exhaust and other engine modifications. The standard Genesis Coupe equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 produces 306 hp and 266 lb-ft. The suspension has been race-prepped with ARK Performance dampers, coil-over springs, a lightweight flywheel, racing clutch and StopTech brakes. Tires are BFGoodrich R1 DOT race tires, with which Gogogear targets 1.4g of lateral acceleration.
The interior is fitted with Sparco racing seats, a full roll cage, a fire suppression system, a two-way radio and other communication and data-logging equipment.
Exterior gets a body kit and rear wing, plus a carbon-fiber roof in place of the Genesis Coupe's steel roof. Gogogear.com graphics harmonize with the Hyundai California Design Center's bright Daytona Yellow paint job.
Gogogear Racing will be posting news about the car's U.S. Touring Car Championship campaign on its Facebook page.
