    Just the Facts:
    • Hyundai and DUB magazine team up on an Equus showcar for SEMA.
    • The big sedan is covered in gloss black and matte charcoal paint.
    • An Infinity Kappa sound system is fitted in to the Hyundai's trunk.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — Hyundai's new flagship Equus will get an "urban" appearance makeover for the 2010 SEMA Show, courtesy of DUB magazine. The Equus is a joint production of Hyundai and the tuner publication and will encompass exterior, interior and audio upgrades.

The styling starts with a mesh grille and a custom body kit by DUB Design, plus a customized suspension. Wheels are 24-inch TIS modular, with Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. The body is covered in a gloss black and matte charcoal two-tone paint scheme, and the windows and taillights are tinted. Inside, there's custom leather and suede, custom rear bucket seats and an illuminated headliner.

The biggest news is the Infinity Kappa sound system, which is fitted inside a trunk enclosure of DUB Design's creation. The setup includes nine speakers and Kappa One mono and Kappa Four four-channel amplifiers and supplements the Hyundai Equus' existing Lexicon audio system.

It's very understated for SEMA. But even the most understated SEMA car looks like a cartoon car on the street.

I actually like the rest of the look, but those wheels are absurd.  The stock Equus has 19 inch rims, which look good.  I think even 20s is pushing it.  24 just looks silly.

Edmunds' first test of the Equus put the 0-60 mph at 6.7 seconds.  For a comparatively inexpensive alternative to the BMW 7-series, Lexus LS, and Mercedes S-class, that's disappointing.  Dub should have focused less on mac-daddy wheels and more on a better engine.

So cheesy.  Perfect for a hyundai.

"Understated?" Yeah, I grant that it doesn't have 30in. rims, but still "understated" seems a bit of an understatement. It's actually not horrible though, IMO.

not bad but too much fancy attention for the rookie car would affect the sales
