    • "With millions of people having iPads in their possession, it was time to make this move," James P. Trainor, Hyundai Motor America spokesman, told Inside Line on Friday.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — When the 2012 Hyundai Equus goes on sale in September, it will not come with a free Apple iPad in the glovebox. But the digital tablet will still be available on remaining units of the 2011 Equus.

"With millions of people having iPads in their possession, it was time to make this move," James P. Trainor, Hyundai Motor America spokesman, told Inside Line on Friday. "All along, it was going to be a gift for first-year buyers. Almost a year ago when we were launching the Equus, it was difficult to get an iPad. You could buy an Equus and get one. That added to the innovation behind it."

Hyundai gave away approximately 2,000 $500 base iPads with the launch of its full-size luxury sedan.

The Equus owners manual was loaded onto the iPad, in addition to being available in paper form in the vehicle. Trainor said that "you can still go into an iTunes store and download the owner guide from Equus onto your device."

Trainor said that Hyundai has no plans to do other tie-ins with Apple on upcoming launches, including the launch of the 2012 Hyundai Veloster.

Inside Line says: If you're determined to get that Apple iPad, you'll have to settle for a 2011 Hyundai Equus.

This is going to throw a wrench into Apple's goal of world domination. Wait, wait, wait, I think it's already happenning. Can. not. get. songs. in. Apple. commercials. out. of. head. We. must. perform. harakiri. before. too. late.

I would've bought one if it had a Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Android 3.0

But wouldn't it be more suiting for the car to have a powerful tablet running windows like the one from Asus? I mean, this is a Full-sized executive Saloon and people who buy the likes of an Equus wouldn't even bother buying an iPad.

If it came with a macbook, it would've made sense.

Good.  I have no interest in buying a car that supports underhanded bullshit.

Is it going to come with galaxy tab instead? or a phone book side manual?

My dad has been loving his Equus and his iPad!

He says it does have some quirks that need to be fixed, otherwise a phenomenal car!

well, that does it.  no Equus for me now.  I'd been hoping for an iPad 2...
Maybe, I can get a Playbook with a new Volt...

Just the facts - this was a marketing stunt to get attention.  "free" iPad attracts more attention than "new Hyundai"

lol, or you could save $59,500 and just buy the iPad.
