    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — Hyundai said its new 2011 Equus luxury sedan will come to the U.S. later this year in two trim levels: Equus Signature and Equus Ultimate.

    Although the company initially indicated the U.S.-spec Equus would start at around $55,000, more recent press reports suggest the base price could creep closer to $60,000. Hyundai hasn't officially announced Equus pricing for the U.S.

    The company released specs and feature information on the Equus, which will be equipped initially with a 385-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 and six-speed automatic transmission. Eventually, Hyundai is expected to add a 429-hp 5.0-liter V8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

    Both the Equus Signature and Equus Ultimate will get a full complement of high-tech and luxury features, including electronically controlled air suspension with continuous damping, adaptive headlamps, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, vehicle stability management with pre-collision warning, front and rear parking assist with rearview camera, heated and cooled front seats, a heated wood-and-leather steering wheel and a 608-watt Lexicon audio system with 17 speakers.

    The range-topping Equus Ultimate adds features that are popular with the chauffeur-driven set in Korea, including cooled, massaging rear seats that recline, with powered headrests, plus a rear refrigerator and entertainment system.

    Why is anyone going to by a  Hyundai for 60,000 with 385 Horsepower.
    You get a Jaguar Xf With The same amout of horsepower for 53,000
    Jaguars use to not be reliable but It seems they fixed those problems. Plus I think you have a warranty For the car which not alot of other companys offer.

    And i read on another website this car can be 80,000 I dont know how true that is. But if its 80k
    for 385 horsepower you can alot get a Jaguar xf supercharged with 510 horsepower.

    Hyundas are nice cars I think the car will be nice interior and exterior wise.
    But  I dont think the engine will be reliable.  Anyone can put together a car for that price with that much horsepower whos to say its good.

    I know a few people who have a genesis and They have engine problems.

    This car isnt even that appealing on thee outside.
    Let alone the exterior kind of looks like a crappy Sabb.

    @hero_sina- if u read the road test of this car a couple days ago one of the pix stated that those badges would not make it to the US

    Actually, what the article said was that the badge on top of the hood will not make it to the states. The other ones will, ie the front hood ornament and rear badges.

    If any car company has a chance at doing what Lexus did back in the day, it will be Hyundai.

    Um, the 750i starts at 80k.

    A8 at 76k

    The S550 starts at 91k.  Yeah, 91k.

    The Lexus LS460 (the car most likely to get hit by the Hyundai) starts at 65k.

    Now if the LS460 is still the budget option in this group and sells over 10k units a year, don't you think there are people out there that want a high luxurious car for a bargain price?  5k a year?

    hmmm....60 grand for this P.O.S. i'd rather get the Genesis sedan, it has way more personality. Man i'd rather get the New E550 MB... there are soooo many cars that are way better than this in every possible way new and used.. they should have priced it at 40 grand and called it a day.

    If you guys are so worried about the badge, then buy one and put it on yourself.

    hero_sina, that's the same way I felt about the Genesis.  It's like they're ashamed to use their own "H" logo.  I like what VW did with the Phaeton... a big fat VW on the grille.

    Call me stupid or cocky ,, But i never pay $60,000 for a car which even it's company didn't put it's badge on it , and please don't tell me it's like what Toyota did with Lexus because it's still a Hyundai with no Hyundai badge.

    "better to get an M3 instead."

    @kingkhalas

    - Yeah, b/c people who looking for a full-size luxury cruiser would be interested in a compact sports car.

    "Remember VW Phaeton?  A 50k car for the people?"

    @deathtaxme

    Uhh, the MSRP of the V8 Phaeton in 2005 was $67K (only a few thousand less than the A8) - which is equal to $76K in today's dollars.
