Face-Lifted: Hyundai Accent

SEOUL — The Hyundai Accent — called the Verna in the home South Korea market — has received a major face-lift and technical upgrade, and has been renamed the Verna Transform.

Hyundai has revised the car's front end with new grille, headlamps and bumper. The rear bumper and taillamps have also been updated.

The Verna Transform gets a fresh interior treatment, with revised center stack, improved materials and new features such as iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

For South Korea, the Verna continues to offer a choice of four-cylinder gas and diesel engines.

The Verna Transform goes on sale in South Korea in mid-June and will roll out to global markets later this year. It is expected to reach the U.S. market as the 2010 Accent.

Inside Line says: The midcycle freshening should tide the Verna/Accent over for a few more years. — Jonathan Cho, Correspondent
