2007 Hyundai Accent
What's Special About It?
Close on the heels of the all-new 2006 Hyundai Accent sedan is the 2007 Accent three-door. This sporty, roomy hatchback, scheduled to arrive in dealerships next spring, made its world debut on the SEMA show floor this morning.
"Right out of the box, the Accent three-door offers a great value for consumers," said Justin Osborne, manager of brand development at Hyundai Motor America. Like its sedan twin, the Accent three-door offers six airbags and standard ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). That's more safety equipment than typically offered in an economy car.
But the Accent three-door's allure doesn't end there. Consumers will be able to customize their cars with more than 35 accessories which will be available at launch. Items include a ground effects kit, cold air intake system and a Kenwood MP3 satellite-compatible radio.
Available in two trim levels, entry-level GS and nicer SE, the Accent three-door gets just one engine option. It's the same 110-horsepower, 1.6-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine found in the new sedan. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard on both models, with an available four-speed automatic.
What's Edmunds' Take?
Watch out, Japanese, the Koreans are on fire with their recently redesigned models. With sporty, comfortable vehicles like the new Accent, they now have much more to offer than just the world's longest warranty. — Kelly Toepke
