2000 Hyundai Accent
FRANKFURT - Hyundai chose the 58th International Motor Show to debut its all-new Accent. As the basis for the company's success thus far, the previous Accent sold 1.6 million units through the end of May 1999. The new Accent is designed to be roomier, quieter and more powerful than its predecessor. With a decidedly conservative outward appearance, Hyundai will offer the Accent in two trim levels and three body styles.
The four-door sedan, three-door hatchback and five-door hatchback come standard with a 1.3-liter SOHC engine producing 74 horsepower at 5400 rpm. The optional 1.5-liter engine makes 87 horsepower at 5500 rpm and either engine can be had with an optional four-speed automatic (a five-speed manual is standard). If neither of these drivetrains will suffice, you could ask your dealer to install one of the 300-horsepower engines from the new Accent World Rally team...but don't be surprised when he can't oblige.
