Perhaps of greater interest, Hummer did not disclose pricing on the uplevel 2009 Hummer H3T Alpha. When contacted by Inside Line on Monday, Hummer spokesman Nick Richards said pricing on the H3T Alpha is expected to be decided sometime this week. But he also said there will be no formal pricing announcement. Richards further declined to provide a ballpark figure on H3T Alpha pricing, but the price likely will be considerably more than the base model. The 2009 Hummer H3T Alpha is a beefier version, with a 5.3-liter V8 hooked to a four-speed automatic transmission. That engine returns 13 mpg in city driving and 16 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
The 2008 Hummer H3 starts at $31,340, including shipping.
The 2009 Hummer H3T arrives at a time when some Hummer dealers are said to be slashing prices by thousands of dollars to move vehicles off of their lots.
Base models of the H3T are powered by a 3.7-liter inline five-cylinder engine that makes 242 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The Hummer H3T with the base engine returns 14 mpg in city driving and 18 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
Hummer has said it plans to offer about 75 accessories for the H3T at launch, including brush guards, roof-rack crossbars and off-road lamps.
