Hummer Turns H3 Into a Full-Size Remote-Controlled Toy

BREUKELEN, Netherlands — Hummer of Europe has taken its smallest truck and transformed it into a life-size remote-controlled vehicle.

While full-size remote-control vehicles have recently been at the forefront of defense research, Hummer had far less ambitious intentions with its H3.

"What better way to show off the definitive big boy's toy than converting the Hummer H3 into a remote-controlled car?" said Hummer spokesman Steve Catlin.

But that doesn't mean the truck's off-road capabilities have been compromised. The H3 can traverse through more than 2 feet of water, crawl over a wall more than 16 inches high and drive up grades as steep as 40 percent. Hummer claims these capabilities make the H3 the best-handling remote-controlled vehicle ever built.

What this means to you: You're still stuck playing with your 1/6-scale remote-controlled racer for now, since this Hummer is not for sale. — Eric Tingwall, Correspondent
