Since one of the biggest shortcomings of the current H3 SUV is a lack of power, the Hummer H3 SUT will offer both V6 and V8 power. No word on displacement or power numbers, but the new engines should give the new truck the kind of punch necessary to lure crew cab truck buyers who might otherwise head for powerful import rivals like the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma.
Although the prototype in our spy pictures and video doesn't appear all that much different from a standard H3 SUV, there are a few easy tip-offs to its new body style. Unlike on standard H3 models, the rear wheelwells don't intrude into the back door frames, an indication of the extended wheelbase. This prototype also carries its spare tire under the frame, a necessary change given that it probably has a flip-down tailgate like a pickup instead of the SUV's side hinged version.
Look for the debut of this all-new Hummer in early 2008 with sales beginning in the spring.
