LAS VEGAS — General Motors may be trying desperately to sell its ailing Hummer brand, but that won't stop the division from shipping a batch of customized H3s to the 2008 SEMA Show here.
In addition to a project truck with Four Wheeler magazine, Hummer is dispatching two concept vehicles to SEMA, one based on the H3T and one on the H3 X.
The H3T Weekend Warrior has a 5.3-liter V8 beefed up with LS2 cylinder heads, a higher-lift camshaft, a custom 3.5-inch exhaust system and other components from the GM Performance Parts catalog, all of which contribute to an additional 70 horsepower. The truck rides on massive 35-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires on 20-inch wheels and features additional suspension pieces and off-road gear from Hummer Accessories.
The H3 X Concept is based on the H3 X Alpha and is fitted with 18-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires and finished in Canyon Metallic paint with blackchrome exterior accents.
The H3 Alpha Trailhugger project with Four Wheeler magazine wears a flat-paint scheme and a number of modifications performed by Attitude Performance of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Among the additional equipment are a brush guard, roof lighting, rocker protection, performance shocks, 16-inch wheels with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires, winch, skid plate and MagnaFlow after-cat exhaust system.
