    What Is It?
    2004 Hummer H1

    What's Special About It?
An all-new look for the interior and a few more ponies under the hood give this revised version of the original Hummer the kind of luxury and power buyers expect from a vehicle in its price range. Gone are the military-issue gauges in favor of more stylish dials unique to the H1. More substantial seats provide greater comfort and visibility while a redesigned center console opens up more passenger space. The standard 6.5-liter diesel engine was retuned to produce more power while keeping noise levels down. With 205 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, the Hummer has more than enough power to tackle the most difficult terrain with ease.

    Why Should You Care?
While the H2 might get all the press these days, the H1 is still out there for those who want the real deal. Originally panned for its poor ergonomics and rough ride quality, the folks at GM and AM General have been slowly turning this military machine into a more docile street machine. It's still light-years behind the majority of luxury SUVs on the market, but for those who absolutely must have the image, these new improvements should make the ride that much more enjoyable. — Ed Hellwig
