TOKYO — If Chrysler put minivans on the map in North America, Honda redefined the segment for Japanese customers with its original Step WGN. Now, the fourth-generation Honda Step WGN is just going on sale in the home market, and Honda once again is setting the bar even higher. The car will debut at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show, which opens on October 24.
The company said its new Step WGN features best-in-class interior space and fuel economy, equivalent to 33 mpg on Japan's 10/15-mode test cycle.
The new Step WGN is fitted with a 2.0-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that can be mated to either a continuously variable or a five-speed automatic transmission. Front- and four-wheel-drive variants are available, and the vehicle is priced from just over $23,000.
Features include third-row seats that stow in the floor, available leather upholstery and an oversize panoramic "sky roof."
Inside Line says: Utterly conventional and, for the target market, utterly functional. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

at first i thought this was a really cool looking wagon, but the profile just lacks something for me, then i realized, this looks like an evolution of the odyssey. then i was struck with horror, what if the next odyssey is THIS, instead of the skydeck? please don't do that to us honda.
