    What is it?
    Honda Spocket

    What's special about it?
You might think that the Honda Spocket concept car is the successor to the CRX. But Honda actually says it is a sport-utility vehicle for people with active lifestyles. The rear of the vehicle is open, much like a pickup truck. And similar to the now-defunct Honda del Sol, the Spocket transforms into an open-air two-seater by having the roof slide back. When the roof does slide back, it acts as a cover to the rear cargo area. The two doors on the Spocket open scissors style, much like a Lamborghini Diablo. So, let's see, we've got influence from an SUV pickup, a del Sol, and a Diablo? How's that for a mutt?

    Why should you care?
Honda's theme for the 1999 TMS was "Be smart, have fun!" The Spocket was the clear representation of that theme. The style and purpose of the car is fun, while the unique powertrain (a small-displacement engine driving the front wheels and electric motors driving the rear wheels) is kind on the environment.
