    Just the Facts:
    • Honda is recalling 2,800 2011 Odyssey minivans because the front windows may shatter into the cabin, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
    • Honda dealers will replace either the passenger's and/or the driver's front door window glass.
    • The recall is expected to begin on April 15.

WASHINGTON — Honda is recalling 2,800 2011 Odyssey minivans because the front windows may shatter into the cabin, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"There is a potential failure with the driver and front passenger door power windows in which the window may come off the track, causing the window to become inoperative and preventing it from being rolled up or down, or it could drop into the door," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "The window may shatter into the passenger cabin, causing a risk of injury to the vehicle occupants."

In other documentation filed with the federal government, Honda said it has received 97 warranty claims regarding the defect. It said in a statement on its Web site that no crashes or injuries have been reported related to the defect. It attributed the defect to a supplier's failure to use the correct primer on the glass.

It is the second recall this month for the 2011 Honda Odyssey. On March 15, Honda recalled 33,341 Odyssey minivans because of defective windshield wipers.

The recall to correct the glass defect will begin on April 15. Honda dealers will replace either the passenger's and/or the driver's front door window glass. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

    LOW BATTERY DEFECT:

Whether you contact your Honda dealer service department or not (and whether you bring it in for service or not), I and many other Odyssey owners STRONGLY recommend that you call or otherwise contact Honda's corporate Customer Service and let them know you are experiencing this problem and that you fully expect Honda to investigate and develop a fix to this design defect:

        American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
        Honda Automobile Customer Service
        Mail Stop 500-2N-7A
        1919 Torrance Boulevard
        Torrance, California 90501-2746

        Tel: (800) 999-1009 (press 7 to report a problem)

In doing this you will get your problem on record (they will give you a "case number") and you will add to the growing list of customers who find the current corporate response by Honda to be unacceptable.  Be sure to let them know that you view this as some kind of defect with the vehicle and I would also encourage you to also let them know how disappointed you are in the fact that Honda's quality / customer service reputation can no longer be trusted or held in such high regard.

If you wish to go even further, tell the customer service representative that although you appreciate their taking the time to record your complaint and provide a case number, you wish to "elevate your customer service complaint" by having a regional customer service manager at American Honda contact you back to discuss the status of this complaint and what you expect American Honda to do about it.  Remember, you paid a LOT of money for a brand new Honda Odyssey vehicle that should not be experiencing this kind of problem!

Why people turned into Japanese car 20 years ago?  Nothing else but quality.  Most recalls occured on the vehicles built in U.S., and using parts from American suppliers.  There's nothing wrong for automakers to build cars in the country where they sell them, but it seems that American parts suppliers just couldn't meet the Japanese quality standard.  I like Honda, and I'd prefer to drive a Honda Accord, or Honda Civic; however, I decided to get rid of my Honda Civic last year after Toyota recalled 8 million cars last year, because I've totally lost the confidence on these Japanese badged (not Japanese built) cars.  I'm driving a Honda Fit which was imported directly from Japan, and I guess my next car will still be a Fit.

Let me guess, some of you are the only Americans who actually work hard and take pride in your work. Everyone else is a knuckle-dragging oaf who is dragging you down. Only magical foreign workers can create products that are good enough for your lofty expectations.

If you have a blind hatred of American workers and American products there is a very easy solution.

Yes Rex21, the problem can be with American plants and parts suppliers, but if you look at where those plants are located, the majority are in the South.

BMW has major problems with quality control in South Carolina, Mercedes has huge problems with quality in Alabama, and others with Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas build quality.

When you choose a state in America to build your vehicle, based on cheap labor and taxes, you get
what you pay for. All these afore mentioned states, have terrible public school systems that nationally consistantly rate on the bottom.

WOW...I can't belive how us as a Americans disregard our own workforce...If we desire an American reborn, we should start to support each other to achieve victory an excellence in our products..like in the past...we can do it!!!!!!!

stupid american parts and labors, this is not just happending in Honda but to all foreign brands that's made right here.  I had a Toyota, Acura, Honda, Subaru and BMW and they all had the same assembly problems. My solution was...i got rid of them and buy only non-domestic.

Lets see the wipers stop working then the windows shatter, no wait I think it goes the window shatter
then the wipers stop working... or do they both go at once?

    This is soooo confusing!

Are they going to pay for the tint on the windows too?  Seems like a lot of companies are using the consumer as the test subjects and the dealers as the R&D departments.
