    Just the Facts:
    • Honda is recalling some of its 2007-'08 Odyssey minivans and Elements.
    • The recall is for customer complaints regarding brake pedal feel.
    • The official customer recall notification will start in April.

TORRANCE, California — Honda on Tuesday said it will recall 344,000 of its 2007-'08 Odyssey minivans and 68,000 Elements to fix the vehicle stability assist modulator in response to customer complaints about brakes that feel "soft" or that "gradually exhibit a pedal height that gets lower before the vehicle stops," the automaker said.

It is the latest recall in a string of high-profile recalls from Japanese automakers, most notably the 8.5 million vehicles globally recalled by Toyota recently.

Honda said in a statement that some of the modulators on the affected vehicles were assembled in a way that allows "air intrusion."

"While only a minuscule amount of air can enter the system during each check, over a period of months or years, the air will accumulate and can result in the 'soft brake pedal' or 'low brake pedal' condition symptoms associated with this issue," the automaker said. It has not yet described the fix for those vehicles.

Customer notification of the recall will start in late April. Honda said owners can also check if their vehicle requires repair by going online or by calling (800) 999-1009 and selecting option 4.

We have a Honda Odyssey 2003, and the transmission fluid keeps turning dk brown. Also, this week, the brakes seize up when applied, and won't dis-engage automatically when pressure is taken off.
Does anyone know if either of these things is included in a recall? or does this sound familiar to anyone else?

According to Yahoo, Honda is recalling the brakes on Odysseys and Elements due to a problem with the brake pedels....have also seen this on the news.  Im not sure if its a seperate recall or covered under this same Stability Assist Modulato recall.  The brake hoses have already been recall on the Odyssey.

Crappy brakes?  On a Honda Odyssey?  You're kidding right?  Geez!  I thought I saw many posts about brakes and rotor failure on Honda Odysseys.  All of the nay sayers said it was some troller that was bias against Honda products. Well, the truth finally comes out.  Now, how about Honda transmission problems that they have been hiding for the last ten years.  I bet I get some negetive feedback that I'm bias against Honda, too.

Oh excuse me for my mistake....From what Yahoo says it covers certain brakes too.  I should have said their crappy Stability Assist Modulator's.  While they are at it they need go ahead and recall their crappy brakes too, but a recall proabaly wouldn't work beacuse every Honda I've ever driven (I work for a dealership and have driven hundreds of different vehicles) have had crappy brakes.

Yea one of the few things Honda has consistently failed at (other than the crappy automatic transmissions) has been brakes.  What's wrong with calling on Brembo once in awhile? Hello? Honda?

It's about time Honda recalled their crappy brakes.
