    Just the Facts:
    • The hybrid version gets revised headlamps and a new grille, among other flourishes.
    • Honda expects its fuel and emissions numbers to be comparable to the Insight.
    • The Jazz is known as the Fit in the U.S.; however, Honda has no plans to bring the hybrid here.

PARIS — Honda will roll out its Jazz Hybrid at the 2010 Paris Auto Show next month. The gasoline-electric hybrid uses the same motor, 1.3-liter VTEC engine and control system as the Insight and CR-Z hybrids already on the market, and Honda says its fuel consumption and emissions numbers should be "comparable" to those on the Insight.

Revised headlamps, a new grille, restyled bumpers and chrome "tailgate garnish" are among the features of the hybrid Jazz. The interior has optional leather trim and a blue-lit instrument panel. It's also available in an eye-catching Lime Green metallic paint color.

The Jazz is the twin of the U.S.-market Fit, but the hybrid model is not expected to come here. Europeans can get the Jazz Hybrid in early 2011, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

Inside Line says: A hybrid in a small package, the popularity of which should depend on how much of a hike there is in the Jazz's price. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent

so this is the vehicle that should be in the states instead of the Insight. i think that people would be alot more satisfied with having only a Fit hybrid instead of even having the Insight and CR-Z.

That said, Honda needs to develop a full hybrid system instead of putting out more 'strong-mild' hybrids.

    Doesn't the CRZ use a 1.5 liter engine, not a 1.3?

"Why is Honda bothering with this?  Why not make something fun again (Like Honda's used to be)?"

Hmmm I think that's because other countries are actually concious about the environment and even an increase of 1 mpg counts.  The environmental policies here is the US is pathetic compare to that of some Asian countries have (ex. Japan, Taiwan)

The car won't be sold in the US so no need to explain why this car wouldn't sell in the US well.
But pricing is about $17K and I can see this selling well in Europe and Japan (gas is too cheap here currently).

And yes highway mileage of Fit/Jazz is 22% lower than Insight Hybrid (not the other way around).

The Honda site says the Fit gets 35mpg highway and the Insight gets 43mpg highway. Still, for as much as the Fit hybrit will likely cost, I'm not sure what the point will be.

    +1 to dagmar3

"Honda says its fuel consumption and emissions numbers should be "comparable" to those on the Insight"

If I'm not mistaken, the current (highway) numbers for Fit is already HIGHER than Insight... So, why bother?

Unless, it is Honda's goal to take out the 'fun' factor from the last few of their cars...

Will anybody really care if the fuel cost of a Honda Fit drops from 8.5 cents/mile to 6 cents/mile?

    No.

Why is Honda bothering with this?  Why not make something fun again (Like Honda's used to be)?
