The EX version of the 2010 Insight comes in at $21,970 with destination, while a top-of-the-line 2010 Honda Insight EX with navigation will run you $23,770.
Although pricing has yet to be announced for the redesigned 2010 Toyota Prius, the Insight undercuts the 2009 Prius by $2,250.
Although Honda can currently brag that it has the "most affordable new hybrid available in the U.S.," it will not snatch the fuel economy crown from the 2010 Prius. The 2010 Honda Insight returns 40 miles per gallon in city driving, 43 mpg on the highway and a combined 41 mpg, according to Honda. Toyota has reported that the 2010 Prius, which goes on sale in May, will deliver 51 mpg city driving, 48 mpg on the highway and a combined 50 mpg. The EPA has yet to post its official numbers for the Insight or the 2010 Prius on its Web site.
Standard equipment on the 2010 Honda Insight LX includes side curtain airbags, antilock brakes, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column and a four-speaker AM/FM audio system with CD player and an auxiliary audio input.
The Insight EX adds paddle shifters for the CVT, alloy wheels, stability control and cruise control. The 2010 Insight EX Navi model gets Bluetooth in addition to a touchscreen-based navigation system. More details are available on Edmunds' Green Car Advisor blog.
