2009 Detroit Auto Show: Honda Insight Will Be 2010 Model

DETROIT — Just ahead of its official introduction at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, Honda says that its new Insight hybrid will be marketed as a 2010 model, not a 2009 as originally planned, when it goes on sale this spring in the U.S.

In a note to the media, Honda said only that, "after extensive internal discussion, it was decided that it would be the most efficient strategy for both Honda and our customers to designate the new Insight as a 2010 model year rather than 2009."

No other significant changes have been made to the car, which was previewed last fall in concept form at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.
