Honda 3R-C Concept: 2010 Geneva Auto Show

    MILAN, Italy — Honda will present the 3R-C battery-electric concept at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in March. The three-wheeled design study will be making its world debut alongside the EV-N, a more traditionally styled battery-electric concept that was previously introduced at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show last fall. The 3R-C is the work of Honda's Research and Design in Milan.

    Honda calls its 3R-C an indicator of what a future "minimal urban transport vehicle for one person" might be like. The sole seat is covered by a clear canopy when the three-wheeler is parked and not in use, and the canopy operates as a windshield to protect the driver when the 3R-C is in motion. There's also a flexible cover that goes around the driver's upper body for comfort and protection from the elements. A locking trunk is located in front of the driver.

    Everything about the 3R-C is low-slung, including the drivetrain and the driver seat, keeping the center of gravity low and making the vehicle more stable, Honda says. Performance specifications were not announced.

    Inside Line says: Its staple-remover looks are actually kind of appealing. Maybe the future is not as far off as it seems. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent

    That thing's right out of the movie "Minority Report."  Very cool.

    if it gets 75-100mpg and can reach highway speeds, i'd rock that for my commute to and from work

    @kr777

    I was just thinking that!  It looks like something out of the anime movie 'Akira' - which isn't necessarily a good thing, but I'll give Honda points for thinking outside the box.

    Does there have to be a point?  The purpose of a concept vehicle is to explore possibilites, brainstorm, seek public opinion on a radical new idea.  It doesn't always have to be something that's 99% production ready.

    Seriously wtf is the point of concepts such as these? At least the Land Glider might come out but I see this coming out highly unlikely.

    That looks very cool! Just like the things in Sci fi movies.
