TORRANCE, California — Honda said on Wednesday it is raising the price on its modestly redesigned 2009 Element. The base Element 2WD LX with a five-speed automatic transmission starts at $20,845, including a $670 destination charge. That's a $1,195 increase over the outgoing model.

The top-of-the-line 2009 Honda Element 4WD EX with navigation and a five-speed automatic transmission gets a $1,995 price increase. The '09 model starts at $25,855, including destination; the '08 version started at $23,860.

The new Honda Element is on sale now.

Honda said optional new features on the 2009 Element EX and SC include a navigation system with voice activation and a rearview camera for automatic-transmission-equipped vehicles only. There is also USB digital media connectivity and an improved overhead console storage area.

The cabin of the Element gets new color schemes with titanium-look side linings, new fabric patterns and revised switchgear designs and meter graphics. The Element EX has a new convertible center console with a removable cooler/storage box.

The Element has a carry-over 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic transmission.
