The 2007 Element SC Prototype is the precursor to a new Element trim level that will make its debut in the fall featuring a sport suspension, larger wheels and tires, and a carpeted interior.
The Element SC Prototype rides 3 inches lower than the current version. The company says a front-to-rear aerodynamic body kit further lowers the vehicle's stance. Exterior features include painted exterior panels and trim pieces, projector-beam headlights and an aero-enhanced black grille. The prototype has custom 21-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels and 21-inch tires as well as four-wheel disc brakes with large brake rotors and custom copper-look brake calipers. The cabin is equipped with a driver-oriented center console, copper-hue instrument panel lighting and piano-black trim.
"The Element SC Prototype is the city-dwelling, style-conscious brother of the original Element," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda.
The Prototype has a 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that gets a 10-horsepower increase over the 2006 Element, to 166 hp. A five-speed manual transmission is standard; a five-speed automatic is optional.
What this means to you: With the urethane flooring gone, maybe Honda ought to equip the latest Element with barf bags.
