TORRANCE, California — Honda is about to join the growing number of electric-vehicle manufacturers, rolling out the 2013 Honda Fit EV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2012 Honda CR-V, which has been teased for months, will also make its official debut, said the automaker in a statement on Monday.

The Fit EV was previewed a year ago at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show in the form of the Honda Fit EV concept. Honda will unveil the final production version of the car at this year's show.

Borrowing heavily from the look of the internal-combustion Fit, the EV concept featured a high-density coaxial motor and a lithium-ion battery park. The concept has a top speed of 90 mph and has 70-100 miles of driving range per charge.

The production version will further flesh out Honda's alternative-fuel offerings, which include the fuel-cell Honda FCX Clarity and the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas. No word yet on pricing for the production Fit EV.

It is expected that the Fit EV will target such products as the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i.

The debut of the 2013 Fit EV will mark nearly 15 years since Honda introduced its first electric vehicle, the EV Plus, which was leased to customer from 1997-'99.

At this year's L.A. show, the automaker also will roll out the 2012 Honda CR-V, which has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the auto industry. Honda has teased the CR-V for months, showing off a vehicle that looks a lot like the 2011 Honda CR-V.

In earlier statements, Honda said that the new CR-V will "feature a more fuel-efficient engine and reduced body weight (as well as) a more accommodating and spacious design with a lower cargo floor." No word yet on pricing for the 2012 CR-V.

The pair debut on November 16.

Jscion: no need to google...just look at the column on the right.  That's the concept version though.  We'll see the production version at the auto show.

How about a 6-speed M/T Fit that doesn't run at 4000 rpm at 80 mph?

There were already pictures of the 2012 CR-V before.  Google it.  It's bigger, and as expected is an evolution of the 2011 model for the most part.  Hopefully Honda didn't inject the cheap into the new model as they did with the new Civic because they are one brand coupled with Acura that is on an amazing role of SUCKS!  The Fit EV seems like a step in the right direction since Honda is pretty much dead in the water when it comes to hybrids.

    I'd buy a Hyundai or a Kia anyday over a Honda....and that's sad considering I once had 2 Civics!

Solid offerings. I like weight savings instead of power gains.

We loved our '99 CR-V (manual) but won't buy another one unless Honda reintroduces the stick option.

Hopefully this will have as big of a cargo area as the RAV4.  It'll be tough without going to an external spare though.

Great to see a weight reduction.  I'd like to see power between the 4 and 6 cyl RAV4 with mpg better than either.

A stick would be nice, too.  It's a shame the current one is auto only, because Honda makes fantastic manuals and crappy autos.
