Chicago Show: Honda Reveals Four-Door Civic Si Sedan, Sets September Sales Date

CHICAGO — Honda said on Wednesday that its 197-horsepower Civic Si sedan concept "provides strong hints" of what a production version of the concept will look like when it goes on sale this fall.

The Si treatment traditionally has been reserved for coupes and hatchbacks. When the production version of the concept goes on sale, it will mark the first time that a Civic Si is available in two body styles.

The concept's DOHC i-VTEC engine has an 8,000-rpm redline and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The concept is outfitted with a helical-type limited-slip differential for improved traction and cornering.

The concept features custom 18-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels, 18-inch high-performance tires, four-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors, and four-piston Brembo calipers.

What this means to you: If you need the practicality of a sedan, you won't be shut out of all the Si fun come September.
