WASHINGTON — Honda is recalling 3,700 2008-'10 Accord sedans equipped with aftermarket full nose masks and is asking owners to remove the nose mask immediately, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"It is possible for the nose mask material to interfere with part of the hood latch," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "If the hood has not been completely closed and the nose mask interferes with the secondary hood latch mechanism, the hood may pop open while the vehicle is being driven. This may result in reduced driver visibility that could increase the risk of a crash."
The nose mask was designed specifically for the model year 2008-'10 Accord sedan. American Honda Motor said it has received one field claim describing the problem in other documentation filed with the federal government.
Honda dealers will replace the nose mask for free. The recall has begun. Honda owners can call the automaker at 800-999-1009.
Inside Line says: If you own one of the aforementioned Honda Accords, remove the nose mask and get a new one from your dealer ASAP. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

If the hood has not been completely closed, it's going to pop open anyway... #@$%#^&!
