LAS VEGAS — Honda's relatively low-key presence at the 2009 SEMA Auto Show was boosted by word that the automaker will make a complete line of Mugen performance accessories available for the Accord sedan in the U.S. starting on November 11.

The Mugen accessories will include 18-inch alloy wheels, front sports grille, front under-spoiler, side spoiler, rear under-spoiler, sports floor mats, machined aluminum oil filler cap and a "distinctive front emblem," said Honda in a statement. The accessories are pegged to the five most popular Accord sedan colors. They include Polished Metal Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, White Diamond Pearl and Taffeta White.

"Honda is committed to supporting personalization of our vehicles into the future," said Bruce Smith, vice president of Parts Operations for American Honda, in a statement.

    Pricing was not announced.

Honda's 2009 SEMA Auto Show appearance included a 2010 Honda Fit with Mugen accessories and several historic Honda vehicles, including an N600, the first model that Honda sold in the U.S.

EDIT: * I like Honda, but i'm not a "fanboy". With that being said I think you'd really have to be one to buy this thing.

Personally, I'm not a Honda fan, but I think Honda coming out with these Mugen parts is good, even if it is just aesthetic parts.
For a person that does like Hondas, more options is always better.
Who knows, they may be just testing the waters with this to see if it'll sell.  If it does, they may even bring performance parts to the USA (or they won't because they're too frugal to give warranty on it).

But yea, customization seems to be the new "it" for car manufacturers.
For example, BMW ditched their outsource performance provider, Dinan, to make and provide their own "BMW Performance" line.
Subaru has their "SPT - Subaru Performance Tuning" line in America (they should've just left their tuning brand name as STi, but the marketing tards in the USA thought buyers would confuse it with the car).

why didn't they just use the mugen parts for the JDM Inspire? that looked MUCH better IMO and it's the same car

    I don't get it

And nothing for the Civic, the most likely of all Honda's to be Mugen'ized

Man, when I read the news title, I thought "cool, wonder what they'll offer..." Then I saw the photos, blah!  Why won't Honda get with the times and offer something larger than 18 inch wheels (that look cheap by the way).

Also, the body kit looks like one of those cheap fiberglass ones you can get on eBay.  The grill is alright, but still, a big swing and a miss.  Thanks for nothing Honda, appreciate the effort, but whoever designed these needs a spanking.
