FRANKFURT, Germany — Although they are alike only in name, the European and American Honda Accord models are usually refreshed almost at the same time. Honda will showcase the new Euro Accord at the Geneva show in 2008, but it gives us a sneak peek at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show with the Accord Tourer Concept.

The Accord will follow the "steel" front-end theme of the new Honda Civic with a front-end treatment that is claimed to reflect a shiny Japanese sword. Elsewhere the styling is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary.

The engine lineup will continue to include 2.0- and 2.4-liter gasoline engines and a 2.2-liter diesel, but they will be improved in fuel consumption and emissions. The diesel will feature a special catalytic converter to meet Euro-5 norms, a first for Honda.

What this means to you: A new Honda Accord is on the way. Such a shame this one won't come to North America.
