SILVERSTONE, England — In an e-mailed message addressed to "fellow gearheads," Texas entrepreneur John Hennessey on Wednesday tipped us to a video just posted to YouTube of the new Venom GT live on British roads.
"I was able to drive our Venom GT supercar for the first time last week," writes Hennessey, adding, only slightly hyberbolically, "It was a magical experience."
Hennessey's own admittedly biased first impressions: "It is quick, as you would expect. Curb weight is very light at 2,400 pounds, and our prototype is powered by a mildly tweaked 6.2L supercharged LS9 V8 producing 725 bhp, so naturally I was expecting it to feel fast. But what shocked me was how docile the car is to drive at any speed. It was just as happy to meander along at 20 mph through English country villages as it was to effortlessly accelerate to 120 mph. The sense of driver confidence it gave me was astounding. Cornering speeds on street tires felt as good [as] or better than some racecars I have driven on full race slicks. The aerodynamic package is truly amazing."
Stay tuned for more teaser footage as this Lotus-based, LS9-powered, limited-edition speedster nears production.
Inside Line says: Maybe we should ask Hennessey if he wants to be a guest tester at IL. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

Nice, but watchout with those "hot" exhaust pipes. Will be nice if he can add the LS-7 power plant as acheaper alternative.
