GMC Yukon 4Sight
What's special about it?
The 4Sight represents the first GM SUV fitted with the new Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system. Available for 2002 on the Sierra Denali pickup truck, this system dramatically increases low-speed maneuverability as well as high-speed towing stability. Coupled with the supercharged 8.1-liter Vortec V8 under the hood, the 4Sight is one serious towing machine.
The 4Sight also features numerous functional improvements throughout the interior and exterior. A Reese Dual Port System hitch can be used either to tow a trailer or mount a multifunction rack for carrying extra cargo or bicycles. The modular roof rack has four individual compartments that swing down over the side for easy loading and unloading. The rack also features auxiliary lighting for packing in or out at night.
Inside, a sliding load floor in the rear maintains easy access to gear no matter where it's packed along with numerous compartments and hooks for securing loose items. A multifunction center console up front has temperature-controlled cupholders, a removable cooler, power outlets for cell phones and side nets for storage of often needed items like maps and key cards.
Why should you care?
If Quadrasteer proves to be a popular option on GM trucks, it probably won't be long before some of the larger SUVs offer it, as well. We've driven the Sierra Denali, and the Quadrasteer system worked as advertised. With its long wheelbase, the Suburban would benefit immensely from this innovative new system. Ed Hellwig
