What's New for 2012: All Makes

2012 GMC Acadia: Feature and color changes are the prominent additions to the Acadia for 2012. All trim levels receive hill-hold assist braking and enhanced electronic pedal override. There's an accessory power outlet added to the center console, while foglamps and body-color side moldings are standard on all trim levels. Outside mirrors with an integrated blind-zone spotter become standard on SLT and Denali trims. One new color is available: Stone Gray Metallic.

2012 GMC Canyon: Package revisions are the primary changes to the GMC Canyon for 2012. The Bodyguard package now includes bed rail protectors and molded splash guards. Bluetooth connectivity is now standard. SLE2 4WD models offer a standard rear sliding window, while 4WD Crew Cab models now come standard with an automatic locking rear differential.

2012 GMC Savana: The 2012 Savana and Savana Cargo will be available in one new color: Wheatland Yellow. Compressed Natural Gas Cargo models included a three-tank fuel tank configuration.

2012 GMC Sierra: GMC's bread and butter — the Sierra 1500 pickup — offers multiple package and feature updates for 2012. StabiliTrak now includes electronic trailer sway control and hill-start assist. Power door locks are now standard across the line, while Work Truck models now come with standard cruise control. Denali and SLT models offer an optional navigation audio system with AM/FM/XM, CD/DVD player, MP3 compatibility and a USB port. Sierra Denali models will come standard with heated and cooled seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a rearview camera system.

The Z85 Handling/Trailering Suspension package is now standard on SL Crew Cab models and is available only on Work Truck models with the Trailering package. One new color is available across the Sierra line: Quicksilver Metallic.

Sierra Hybrid 3HB models offer the same navigation radio and Quicksilver Metallic paint as the rest of the Sierra line.

2012 GMC Sierra HD: GMC's heavy trucks — the 2500HD and 3500HD — also receive modest updates for 2012. Denali and SLT models will offer an optional navigation audio system with AM/FM/XM, CD/DVD player, MP3 compatibility and a USB port. Work Truck models come standard with cruise control and a spare tire lock, while 3500HD Work Trucks are fitted with outside vertical camper mirrors.

A high-idle switch is available on 2500 HD models, and 3500 Denali HD models come standard with 17-inch polished aluminum dual rear wheels. The same polished wheels are also available on SLT dually models.

Sierra Denali HD models will come standard with heated and cooled seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a rearview camera system. One new color — Quicksilver Metallic — is standard across the Sierra HD line.

2012 GMC Terrain: Good news! SLE2, SLT1 and SLT2 package-equipped GMC Terrains will come with 18-inch chrome-clad wheels. Also, 2.4-liter four-cylinder-powered Terrains will add E85 capability (the 3.0-liter V6 added this capability for 2011).

There's also a standard touchscreen audio system featuring a 7-inch high-definition color display controlling the AM/FM/XM/CD, MP3-capable audio system. GMC IntelliLink allows smartphone integration with the audio system through Bluetooth and USB for hands-free control via voice activation and steering-wheel-mounted controls. The system is also capable of streaming audio from the phone through Pandora or Stitcher.

There's an available audio system with navigation and a standard rearview camera that displays through the audio system screen rather than being inset in the rearview mirror.

2012 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL: GMC's full-size SUVs receive genuinely useful updates for 2012. StabiliTrak, for example, now includes electronic trailer sway control.

Satellite radio is standard on all trim levels. SLE and SLT trims offer an audio system with AM/FM/CD and a USB port. Denali trims get a navigation radio with touchscreen operation (also available on SLT) and standard blind zone alert. SLT models (except Yukon XL 2500) offer an optional heated steering wheel. Recovery hooks are standard on all trims. Two new exterior colors are available: Crystal Red Tintcoat and Quicksilver Metallic.

Hybrid models offer the same audio system with AM/FM/CD and USB port as well as a time-shift recording capability and SiriusXM weather service.
