2011 GMC Acadia Denali Introduced

    12 Ratings

DETROIT — The 2011 GMC Acadia Denali, a high-end trim level usually reserved for GMC SUVs, will arrive in showrooms in the third quarter of 2010, GM announced on Thursday. Pricing has not yet been announced.

"The decision to develop an Acadia Denali [crossover] was made quickly within the new GM in response to customer and dealer demand for a Denali version ever since the launch of the Acadia," said Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director, in a statement.

The Acadia Denali will be available in front- and all-wheel-drive models, as well as seven- and eight-passenger configurations. It is equipped with a 288-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is estimated at 17 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway for the front-wheel-drive model. Fuel economy is estimated at 16 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway for the all-wheel-drive model, GM said.

Exterior details include unique lower front and rear fascias, high-intensity-discharge headlamps, body-color lower cladding and rocker moldings, body-color rear fascia and fender flares, Denali badges, dual chrome exhaust tips and 20-inch two-tone chrome-clad wheels.

The cabin gets perforated leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mahogany wood inserts, accent lighting, a rearview camera and other amenities.

Inside Line says: A smart move, since Denali has established itself as a strong name in the GMC family in the past 10 years. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

I like this vehicle, but I hope the 2014 Acadia is larger.  I have a 2006 Envoy XL Denali with 4 kids and it does well on room.  The current crossovers are smaller by GM.  Do away with the cladding and give us what we really want:   a very nice vehicle with room and storage space!

You guys don't mention price, but being a fully loaded Acadia can already push upper $40's...I don't know how many people will line up for a $50K Acadia.

That is one nice suv i just wish it came with a v8 or a more powerful six now that it will be a denali. This
is also a great alternative for people who dont want to buy a minivan.

I don't think you all realize that some of us who have more than 1 or 2 kids ( I have 4) just do not want a mini-van... that's what I have now and I'd like to move on. I like my MPV but I also like this Denali. It actually makes me want an Acadia... I didn't before. I guess some people don't realize that it's okay for GM to offer more than just one thing. GMC is a truck company. That's all they do. If they made an even smaller SUV/CUV (smaller even than the Terrain) it would not be fit to carry a GMC emblem. God forbid someone actually likes SUVs. You don't like it, fine. Why assume nobody else will ? The 'hood will always love Suburbans / Yukons / Escalades and the like. BTW, so do all those suburban soccer moms. There is still a market for mid to full-size SUVs.

charlesb said it all, when will GM learn that the world has moved on from the days of overweight, poor perforimg, ugly, dinosaurs.

That body cladding must have been left over after Bob Lutz had it expunged from the Avalanche.    I don't think GM is ever going to get the message....chromie dubs, shiney exhaust tips and a splash of wood...just like the bad old days.

GM are still doing business as usual.  Look at this A Cadillac fighter,  with size bigger more body kit, and premium leather everywhere, fighting its very own Brand Cadillac SRX.

What are the percentage of sales for the Denali today comparing to yesterday.

May they could have a Denali for Chevy Spark, too. Call it a GMC Sparkling Compact Denali
