    Just the Facts:
    • Geely will unveil a new sports car in Beijing, the GS (Geely Star).
    • The GS will be sold under the Gleagle (Global Eagle) sub-brand.
    • Geely will also show an updated version of its Emgrand GT, now called the GS Lucky Star, in Beijing.

BEIJING — At the 2010 Beijing Auto Show this week, Geely will unveil another new sports car, this one called the GS (Geely Star), to be sold under its Gleagle (Global Eagle) sub-brand.

The GS Lucky Star follows last year's GT (for Geely Tiger), which debuted at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show and will be marketed under the Emgrand sub-brand.

Both models will be on display in Beijing.

The latest version of the Emgrand GT has been mildly restyled and does away with the gullwing doors of the 2009 concept. The Beijing showcar reportedly will feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and hybrid electric drive.

The GS with any other grille would actually look half-way decent.  Side profile has a wee bit of Nissan 370 look to it.  Is it just me, or are Chinese car designs (and maybe it's just Geely) starting to look more & more British?  Do the Chinese have a special affinity for British motor cars?  Or is this just another example of their copy/pasting design language from nearly every maker & nationality into their own "Chinese" cars?  At some point won't Chinese cars have their own "look and feel" just as American cars (chrome & bling, big, high beltlines, "muscle" cars, SUV's, monster trucks), and French cars (goofy/bulbous shapes, more artistic than practical, awkward lines) and German cars (practical engineering over style, sportiness without ostentasciousness, elegant interiors) all have certain traits in common (you can almost tell where it's from by just looking at it)???

and more good news, geely has been threatening to sell cars here since 2005, but their recent purchase of Volvo might give enough leverage to bring this sleek coupe to the States

New Chinese disability legislation includes a quota for automobile companies to hire blind designers.  That can be the only explanation for this mess.  I must admit though it did put a smile on my face...LOL

Damn, chopperx beat me to the cheese grater analogy. Doh!
But the name? Sounds like a fake Colbert show combination of "Gladiatior" and "Eagle."

Come on everyone, give Geely some credit, for ugly or not, it must be the only Chinese automaker in this show not putting forth a 100% copy of a Toyota!

Hmm... Gleagle?  Is that something like "Successful melding of Brumblefly and telepod"?

Shameless lift of Jaguar XJ tail light design, Lexus SC side profile and some how they managed to keep Hyundai Tiburon's (prev gen) look alike (except the grill) in the front. I wonder who design's their cars.

Wow. I'll give Geely this. They can come up with some ugly grill-work! Sadly, this car does not even rate as a butter-face!!!
