GUANGZHOU, China — Geely has mildly updated its Emgrand EC718 sedan, focusing mainly on interior upgrades, for the 2009 Guangzhou Auto Show.
The upmarket sedan is the first model to be launched under Geely's Emgrand (Dihao in Chinese) sub-brand announced earlier this year. The EC718 went on sale in July, priced from $12,100-$16,400 and aimed at Chery's premium Riich G5 sedan.
The EC7 range will be expanded early next year with the addition of the EC718 RV hatchback.
Both models are powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gas engine that makes 137 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The range will be further expanded with new EC715 models, powered by a smaller 1.5-liter engine.
Inside Line says: Geely hopes eventually to export the EC7 range to Europe and perhaps to North America. — Hu Lei, Correspondent

If this makes it to our shores, god forbid,I can see it being the equivalent of Daewoo. I hope the Chinese have something better to offer than rent a cars.
