- FPV's 449-horsepower "Miami" edition of Dearborn's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 could find its way back to the U.S.
- A milder version of the Miami 5.0 is targeted for use in the FPV GS sedan and ute.
- 2011 FPV GS and GT will be unveiled in Australia in early October.
MELBOURNE, Australia — Ford Performance Vehicles would like to see its new supercharged 5.0-liter V8 find its way back to the mother ship in Dearborn, according to Australian Web site GoAuto.com.
FPV's so-called "Miami" engine is based on Ford Motor's Coyote 5.0 V8, a 440-horsepower version of which has just been launched in the 2011 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
The Miami edition (internal code name V2G) makes 449 hp and is earmarked in Australia for the upcoming Falcon-based FPV GT. The FPV engine cover bears the inscription Boss 335, denoting the output — 335 kW, or 449 hp. Torque is 420 pound-feet, compared with 380 lb-ft for the American Boss 302.
A milder version of the Miami 5.0, code-named V2X and targeted for use in the FPV GS sedan and ute, makes 422 hp and 402 lb-ft.
The 2011 FPV GS and GT will be unveiled in Australia in early October, following the recent launch of the six-cylinder F6.
GoAuto said FPV is talking with Ford in Dearborn about the possibility of exporting one or both versions of the Miami V8 to the U.S., for use in unspecified performance models.
FPV is jointly owned by Ford Australia and Prodrive Automotive Technology Asia Pacific.

I think people do not realise the internal work thats also been done to this engine, its capable of a lot more than what the Aussies tuned it down to. This is a perfect motor for our mustang :).

if I will happy if FPV Ford Falcon sedan or ute will coming to here since last model Ford Torino was high performance muscle car model. rare Ford Falcon XA, XB and XC coupes for Aussie old high performance GS, GT, John Goss, 1978 XC Cobra, Superbird (not 1970 Plymouth Superbird) and fictionizzed performance customs Mad Max Black Special Pursuit Interceptor,. I know rare late 1960's and early 1970's Ford Falcon GTHO sedan. few classic Aussie Ford Falcon with RHD have imported to USA. it is 150 cars in USA.
I believe new club organization will called Australian Automobile Club of USA about our owners have Australian standard or muscle cars in US. I know two US Market models for 2004 to 2006 Pontiac GTO based of Holden Monaro and 2008 to 2009 Pontiac G8 based of Holden Commodore. I heard 2011 Chevrolet Caprice for police package or detective unmarked will retire to more than mid-2010's. If FPV Ford Falcon sedan or ute will coming to US market. I can tell you about non US market models still imported to USA. I show you for non US market models.

Trust me guys, I'm from Australia, you don't need or want a Falcon. The 2010 Taurus is superior in everyway. If you want a RWD then go for the Mustang. Ford HQ in Dearborn simply needs to put its foot down and tell Ford Australia to stop production of the Ford Falcon. It's simple nonsense to allow Ford Australia to continue to produce a low volume car while Ford's global plans is to consolidate platforms. Even if you wanted Falcons, Australia couldn't produce the numbers to make it viable, in short it'd be an absolute waste of money and time to export an inferior product.
I'm waiting for the day when you export the Taurus and Mustang here instead.

Evereybody these days are throwing around horsepower #'s left and right, granted the american spec 5.0 makes what 414hp, 380 tq, respectable, and lightyears ahead of what the old GT made. The aussie powerplant uses a small supercharger and makes 440hp, and wait for it, 420tq(pobably at a much lower rpm). 40 tq is huge, and thats whats moving the car. everyboby wants to benchrace horspower. But the torque is the key. This motor in the same weighted car would be 2/10's faster to 60, and mabye 1/2 sec. faster in the 1/4 mile. Bring it here. I'll buy one.

FOR NEARLY A DECADE NOW, I'VE BEEN HOPING THAT BOTH FORD AND GM WOULD START BRINGING A LOT MORE OF THEIR AUSSIE IRON HERE TO THE STATES. I'M ESPECIALLY FOND OF THEIR UTES. BUT THEY ENDLESSLY DITHER AROUND, AND USE THE FLIMSIEST OF EXCUSES TO JUSTIFY NEVER GETTING IT DONE. I DON'T EVEN COUNT THE GTO. IT WAS DOA. AND THE G8, (A FABULOUS CAR,), WAS ONLY BEING SOLD OUT OF A HORRIBLY DISFUNCTIONAL DEALERSHIP NETWORK. IT NEVER REALLY HAD A CHANCE; SAME FOR PONTIAC'S ILL FATED UTE.
FORD IS CURRENTLY USING THE FALCON PLATFORM FOR THE TAURUS.
BUT HERE'S WHAT REALLY NEEDS TO HAPPEN. THE COMPANIES NEED TO ADOBT MANUFACTURING STANDARDS THAT ARE APPLICABLE TO BOTH COUNTRIES, SO THAT PRODUCTS CAN BE BUILT AND SOLD AT EITHER END OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN.
I KNOW THAT MARK REUSS AT GM IS CURRENTLY MOVING HEAVEN AND EARTH IN AN EFFORT TO GET BOTH THE COMMODORE (PONTIAC G8) AND MALOO INTO THIS MARKET. BUT I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH ON ANY OF IT ACTUALLY HAPPENING. LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO WASTE ANY MORE OF MY TIME WAITING ON STUFF LIKE THIS. IF THEY CHOOSE TO SCREW UP, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO DO. AND NOTHING I THINK, SAY, WRITE OR DO, WILL CONVINCE THEM TO CHANGE THEIR MINDS. PARDON ME... I THINK I'M GOING OUT FRONT AND ROAST SOME MARSHMALLOWS OVER THE FLAMING EMBERS OF MY ITALIA.

The US would be a better place if the'd bring the falcon and commodore here! Do we get the falcon with the V8 or only avail in a mustang?

juan - you're probably right, but that doesn't change how superficially unimpressive the supercharger is. If you're going to add a supercharger, give it at least 50 more hp than the Boss engine to make it sound better, even if the main gain would be in torque.
charles - too bad the Falcon is consistently inferior to the Commordore! It would be a lot of fun, but I'm not really seeing the point unless it can move Ford (or, God forbid, Lincoln) upmarket to have an 3 sedan or 5 series competitor.

@braco & @bearsdkillz
the gain is in the low end torque,
they don't say, but the 420 pound-feet probably are at 2000 rpm or below.
the normally aspirated engine has the max torque at 4250 rpm.

Gotta admit this car would make a fantastic replacement for the ancient Crown Vic.

@bearsdkillz actually in the BOSS302 5.0 makes 440, so a supercharger for 9 HP gain, sounds silly to me.
