- Ford is recalling 33,728 2010 Transit Connect vans.
- A stop-sale has also been issued.
- Transit Connect has a potential problem with its interior impact protection.
WASHINGTON — Ford is recalling 33,728 of its 2010 Transit Connect vans and stopping delivery of the affected vehicles after testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed a problem with interior impact protection, according to NHTSA.
"The headliner retention push pin located on the headliner above the B-pillar trim on both the left and right side of the vehicles needs to be replaced," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "In the event of a vehicle crash, an occupant could be at an increased risk of injury."
In other documentation filed with the federal government, Ford said it will "notify dealers to stop demonstrating and delivering the affected vehicles until they are updated with a revised headliner retention push pin." The stop-sale order was signed by James P. Vondale, director of Ford's automotive safety office.
Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall. NHTSA reports that it discovered the problem through vehicle testing. The affected vehicles were built between December 5, 2008, and May 31, 2010.
Ford dealers will install revised headliner push pins. The recall is expected to begin on July 19. Transit Connect owners can contact Ford at 866-436-7332.

Yes, that's the U.S. government for you. 1 million+ illegal aliens slip by them, but not a push pin.

What are the right wing conspiracy nuts supposed to say now that the NHTSA is going after an American Manufacturer for safety? Before it was the anti-US car manufacturers' propaganda that Obama was picking on Toyota for the benefit of GM. How do they explain this?
